David Gibbs' defense added another piece last night as they picked up a preferred walk-on commitment from IMG Academy (FL) outside linebacker Case Gatlin. The two-star recruit announced his decision via Twitter. He said his parents being alumni of the school and the fact it is closer to his hometown than other offers played a major role in his decision. "It's definitely closest to home and that's where my parents actually went and I really think they're going to take off soon. It was actually the first college campus I've ever visited with my parents. It was a while back, so I know they've upgraded some things. I've always been a Texas Tech fan." "I think they're going to be on the uprise, definitely

Arizona State’s weird Herm Edwards deal is already a mess

If Arizona State choosing ex-Jets coach Herm Edwards to lead its program wasn’t weird enough, the details of the partnership were just strange. Edwards, the ex-ESPN analyst who hasn’t coached anywhere since 2008 and not in college since 1989, is officially the head coach for the Sun Devils, but the plan was for him to take on more of a general manager/CEO role in a more NFL-esque power structure. Arizona State called it a “new leadership model.” That plan was put in place in part to give offensive coordinator Billy Napier and defensive coordinator Phil Bennett more responsibility — and to keep them on staff despite firing former head coach Todd Graham. The plan has already backfired. Bennett

The Ducks have worn other great uniforms this season, but these are simply dazzling. And depending on what uniforms the Broncos sport, the Las Vegas Bowl could get really colorful. The game is set to start at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.

Titans should ask Tennessee State football coach Rod Reed about facing Jimmy Garoppolo

San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan decided Jimmy Garoppolo will get his first start with the 49ers Sunday in Chicago, the team announced Tuesday. The Titans don't have to travel far for a scouting report on Jimmy Garoppolo. They could call up Tennessee State coach Rod Reed and find out everything they need to know about San Francisco's new quarterback, who led the 49ers to back-to-back road wins for the first time since 2014 over the last two weeks. The Titans are scrambling trying to figure out Garoppolo's strengths and weaknesses because he only took over as the starter on Dec. 3 for former BGA quarterback C.J. Beathard, who sustained knee and hip injures. Garoppolo spent his first three-plus
